Due to high levels of crime in this developing country, guards, police and security are posted outside banks, shop doors and on darkened corners. Their presence alludes to the underlying sense of unease, and are an effort to bring order and control to an unstable and challenging environment.
I made these images on my second trip to Mexico City after noticing such a number of guards on my previous visit.
