Julia, along with her family, run Broachdale Farm, a large new purpose-built facility in Driffield, East Yorkshire, not too far from Scarborough, where they farm and supply eggs for Lidl.

We drove up to meet Julia and spent the day in the beautiful countryside, where her hens roam freely on their land and come and go from the coop when they choose.

They're such inquisitive aniimals, so it was a very entertaining way to spend a few hours, but when there are literally thousands of birds around your feet, constantly pecking at your shoes and ankles, the noise they create fills your head for what seems like hours afterwards!
