My dad and his brother have always been fascinated by motor racing. Growing up in Leicester, their nearest race circuit was a place called Mallory Park, in the small Leicestershire town of Kirkby Mallory.
Having kept a close eye on upcoming race-meets at Mallory, my dad settled on a celebration of historic sports cars, many of which were up to, and even over, 100 years old.
As the only event like it in the world, the Vintage Sports Car Club brought together various classes of cars to race at Mallory. I took my 35mm film camera with me, a 100mm prime lens and a few rolls of film, some of which were many years out of date, and turned my lens on a very British spectacle.
I wanted to capture some of the stunning old cars, their dedicated owners and drivers, the beautifully-aged fans and a variety of evocative little subjects that caught my eye throughout the day.
